How Swipe Works:
Swipe starts with more efficient data collection. Students check in when they first arrive to school by “swiping” ID cards at the school entrance(s). Schools can also use biometric finger scanners. The swiping stations record the exact time of entry and print “Swipe Alerts” for students that have active alerts or messages. Each Swipe station can log in dozens of students per minute for fast, efficient attendance data collection. No lines, no waiting.
Optional Truancy Tracking
With the arrival time of each student on file, teachers simply log into the Swipe website to view the real-time attendance status for each period. Swipe works side by side the school’s official attendance system and offers period by period attendance accountability. If a student shows “Present” on screen but is missing from class, the teacher will see this and can take select “class cut”. This will trigger an alarm the next day when the student Swipes so administrators can take action immediately.
Schools can quickly print bar-coded photo ID cards for students. A PVC printer installed on the Swipe cart enables schools to print a durable barcoded ID card that a student can use immediately to Swipe in. Temporary ID cards to be used for the day can also be printed for students that forgot their ID card.
Schools can choose to use a static bar-code such as a student’s ID number or a system generated barcode that changes each time a replacement card is printed.
TRACKING:
Nurse/Guidance Visit
Swipe can also be used in offices throughout the school to record the arrival and departure of students. Many schools put systems in the Nurse and Guidance offices. Some schools even place carts outside the bathrooms.
Parents/Teachers Module
Teachers can see that a student is in the nurse or with an Assistant principal. Teachers can also see that a student left early for a Dr. Appointment or a field trip.
Swipe also prints a hall pass for students when they depart.
Parents, you can now sign up for your own Swipe account! Swipe enables you to log in and see your child’s attendance and discipline record. You can also sign up for automated emails. Swipe can even send you a daily email after your son or daughter has arrived to school!
Swipe shows:
– Arrival time to school
– Class cuts
– Suspensions and other disciplinary actions
– Fines and other obligations
Lunchroom Scanning:
The SWIPE Cafeteria Entrance Screening Module quickly verifies whether students are eligible to be in the cafeteria during a selected lunch period. The system emits an alarm sound if an ineligible student trys to scan. Students that forget their card can be manually entered at the station.
- Cafeteria screening helps schools reduce class cutting!
Truancy Tracking
Swipe shows teachers the attendance status of each student based upon the scanning data collected when students entered the building. Teachers can see the exact time each student arrived to school and can quickly identify class cuts. Teachers can also view early releases, visits to the bathroom, guidance, and the nurses’ office.
