[Manchester, MD] Students will forget student ID cards, but rarely (if ever) do they leave home without their cell phones. Manchester Public Schools encourage students to download the free app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store. Once installed, students waive their phone under the “reader” and the system checks them in!
Technology has evolved over the years to meet the needs of the school system. Harford County Public Schools’ has experienced this with the introduction of SwipeK12’s Visitor Management System. New schools are being equipped with wireless local area networks and many new technological opportunities and Swipe Solutions rises to the call.
School staff, like Marilyn Jones, who works at the front desk, has praised the new system because it allows visitors to check in quicker while at the same time keeping the school safe from sexual predators.
“It’s made my life a lot easier,” Jones said. “I always walk through the first-timers and they learn it easily. I haven’t had any repeaters.”
After installing the system our school experienced an 80% reduction in class cutting and a 10% improvement in attendance.”

School District 308 uses Swipe in our high schools. The system is completely interfaced to our student information system and greatly saves teachers time. The few issues that we have experienced at the schools have been quickly resolved by the Swipe help desk team and the program as a whole has been a successful initiative.
